Thoughts & Ronnie Dunn Solo

It was good to meet with my friend Terry Fernihough yesterday, we had a good interview about country music in Canada that’ll be going into Part III of my look at country in Canada. Part I is now up on my YouTube channel.

In other musings, I’m really looking forward to Ronnie Dunn’s new album. The lead single “Bleed Red,” while overly-orchestrally-dominated in certain parts (Ronnie’s voice didn’t need so much accompaniment) is nonetheless a pretty powerful lead-off single for his solo career. CM Wilcox’s review at The9513 makes some good points about the songs weaknesses, but nonetheless Ronnie’s vocals are extraordinary enough to make his new album a pretty good bet to contain some adventurous and well-written country.
